Singapore’s November rainfall reached the highest in 44 years

The National Environment Agency of Singapore issued a notice on the 9th that the total local rainfall in Singapore in November this year was 419 mm, the highest rainfall in November since 1980.

The notice said that the rainfall in November this year was 47.4% higher than the long-term average rainfall in November, and broke the record of 390.1 mm rainfall set in November 1992. The bulletin also said that the temperature measured in Singapore on December 7 reached 36.2 degrees Celsius, breaking the previous record of 35.9 degrees on December 6, 2016, becoming the highest temperature day in December on record.

Global climate change has led to frequent extreme weather in Singapore. Earlier, the Singapore Public Utilities Board issued a notice saying that on November 16, the western region of Singapore recorded the largest single-day rainfall in 46 years, equivalent to 43% of the local average rainfall in November. Some areas were also hit by floods caused by heavy rains.
